History & Philosophy

In 2005, Prince Robert de Luxembourg created the first premium brand of Bordeaux wine: Clarendelle, named in honour of his great-grandfather, Mr Clarence Dillon. Inspired by Haut-Brion and produced by Clarence Dillon Wines, in conjunction with the winemaking team from Château Haut-Brion and Château La Mission Haut-Brion, Clarendelle is a family of blended wines made from traditional Bordeaux grape varietals. Through the creation of Clarendelle, Clarence Dillon Wines and Domaine Clarence Dillon wish to shed a new light on the tremendous potential and savoir faire of this region, that have made it a benchmark for the entire world.

Vineyard & Climate

The Bordeaux wine region lies in the south west of France, near the Atlantic coast. The vineyards are moderated and heavily influenced by their proximity to the Atlantic Ocean to the west and the Gironde estuary. The mild climate with temperate winters and long warm summers is ideal for making world-class, classically constructed wines. The region has a variety of soils ranging from gravel and clay to limestone and sand. Vines are planted at a density of 3300-5000 vines/hectare. Yields are on average 55 hl/ha.


Clarendelle Blanc

A clean, youthful, subtle wine with lovely citrus fruits, white peaches and herbaceous hints. The palate is dry with balanced acidity and a creamy texture. This is a polished, well-structured and elegant wine.

Clarendelle Rosé

Attractive floral nose with aromas of violets, roses, raspberries and strawberries. Dry wine with good intensity of fruit, balanced acidity, creamy texture and an attractive, long finish.

Clarendelle Rouge

Restrained notes of dark fruits with a hint of chocolate. Rich and full-bodied with a plum fruit and savoury character. The tannins are soft and the acidity is well balanced. Spice and tobacco richness complete the finish.

Clarendelle Amberwine, Monbazillac
Aromas of ripe, almost candied fruits such as apricot, peach, pineapple with notes of orange blossom. Smooth and elegant on the palate, the sweetness of the wine is balanced by refreshing acidity ending with long finish.
