History & Philosophy

The history of the Perini’s Family in Brazil started in 1876 with the arrival of Italian immigrants Antonio and Giuseppe Perini to the beautiful mountain region of Serra Gaúcha, South Brazil. They brought with them from Italy the art of transforming grapes into wine and believed that their love for the land, hard work and dedication would give a special taste to the grapes they harvested. Four generations on, Guiseppe’s grandson and current Director, Benildo Perini, founded the Perini Winery in 1970, transforming the small family business to the winery it is today. Streamlining the management process, identifying trends and producing excellent quality wines has transformed Perini into one of the best known wineries in Brazil.

Vineyard & Climate

Perini is located in the mountain region of Serra Gaúcha, in the sub-region Vale Trentino, in the very South of Brazil. The region has a temperate climate, humid with mild nights. The average temperature is 13°C during winter and 23°C during summer and the altitude is about 700 meters above sea level. The region is responsible for producing 85% of all the wine made in Brazil. Perini owns 12 hectares of vineyards located in Garibaldi and 80 hectares in Farroupilha, two important cities in the Serra Gaúcha region. In 2010, Perini’s pioneering winemaking team implemented a total traceability system that allows them to trace the winemaking process from the vineyard to the final bottle.
